AKA Design Facilitates Music 4's Expansion

AKA Design, the leading UK interior and furniture design consultancy for the post production, audio and television industries, has been drafted in by Soho-based Music 4. AKA was commissioned to create an additional three studio suites and make changes to an exisiting suite after the company acquired another floor of its building and carried out a substantial upgrade of its studio facilities.

AKA worked on the original lower ground floor studio, reception and office area when Music 4 relocated to central London just under three years ago. Having acquired the lease for the fifth floor, Music 4 required AKA to revamp the original studio 1, design another studio for the lower ground floor and two additional studio suites for the fifth floor. All studio furniture was supplied from AKA's Custom range, crafted to individual requirements.

"Our work for Music 4 has been slightly different from other clients in that we've designed the layout for all their studios," says AKA managing director Guy Wilson. "They're doing extremly well; in fact their problem was that they were booked out all the time. We worked with them to accommodate this new build, always keeping at least one studio up and running at all times. Sandy is a very visual client, he knows what he likes, and it was a case of turning his ideas into reality. Together we've created a look and feel that runs throughout the facility, so in any room on either floor you know you're still in Music 4."

Music 4 is one of the UK's leading creators of custom and production music for clients such as ITV, BBC Radio1, Magic 105.4 and Virgin Radio. It also has a growing audio post production business, Music 4 Studios, working on regualr high profile projects for TV broadcast and DVD releases.

"Guy and the team at AKA are brilliant to work with," says Music 4's managing director Sandy Beech. "As part of this project, we introduced new mixing desks from SSL and new monitoring systems but I still wanted to keep the studios looking streamlined and homely. I am delighted with the end results."
