Technicolor’s new Soho facility, furnished by AKAA few months ago Technicolor Creative Services opened a new seven-storey facility in the heart of London’s Soho to further expand their broadcast and post production services. The building includes three theatrical grading suites, four telecine suites (three Spirits and a Northlight) and several on-line and off-line editing suites. Having worked with the technical furniture specialists, AKA Design, for more than 10 years Technicolor commissioned them to design and install the reception desk and furniture for the various technical suites including Grading, Spirit, IQ and a Digital cinema theatre. Simon Wilkinson, Technicolor’s MD, wanted to achieve a modernist interior using clean lines and natural finishes and worked with AKA on the design process for the various desks. The interior was designed by Cow Limited, an architectural design consultancy and project management company that has specialised in providing its services to the post-production facilities industry since 1999. AKA worked closely with Cow’s design team, to establish a design aesthetic that sat comfortably with the interior and furniture, marrying the two to give not only a stylish but ultimately functional working environment. AKA have since undertaken a project to install two grading suites at Technicolor’s brand new facility at Pinewood.
